I took her class in Anthropology and became fascinated with the study of people and cultures and with Helen. I could not decide on a major and was floundering. I remember that Helen said to me, "I can't tell you what to do but I can tell you what you are. You are a Social Worker." I did not know what that entailed at first but decided to give it a try. I graduated from the Social Work Program at Clinch Valley in 1975 and thanks to Helen I found my calling. For the last 37 years I have been a professional Social Worker and Social Work educator.
Helen and another wonderful former teacher at CVC Marilyn Pace helped to give me confidence and direction that has allowed me to become the person that I am today. I thank Helen for always being there for me in my professional heart. I pass many of the lessons that Helen taught to me on to my students today.

Jackie A. Helen opened up a new and exciting world for me, when she praised some of my writings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
