Radical Roots Project Featured in Boone, NC

Here we are at the Appalachian Festival at Frostburg State University
The Radical Roots Project wil be a featured exhibit at the Appalachia and Wales: Coal and After Coal symposium on the campus of Appalachian State University, October 14-16, 2010. During the event, a range of scholars, artists, and activists will provide an interdisciplinary view of how issues relating to how coal, climate change, economy, and technology have shaped the coalfields of South Wales and Appalachia. All of the events at the symposium are free and open to the public.

Featured speakers include Jeff BiggersHelen Lewis, Ron Lewis, Hywel Francis, MP, William Schumann, Randy Wilson, Mair Francis, and Amanda Starbuck.

Rare film clips from Helen Lewis and John Gaventa’s visits to the Welsh coalfields in the 1970’s will be shown, as well as the new Appalshop documentary as will The Electricity Fairy, a film by Tom Hansell.
